Mercedes CLK 63 AMG Named Official 2006 F1 Safety Car

If you're an avid F1 fan, you'll be seeing an all-new safety car this race season. The Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG has been named the latest FIA safety car, and will serve its duty protecting the F1 drivers starting March 9th at the Bahrain Grand Prix. Of course, taking a stock CLK 63 AMG and adding some decals doesn't make it a true safety car, so to help deal with the fast-paced conditions, Mercedes has added a few tweaks to boost the CLK's performance. Powered by the standard CLK 63 AMG's 481 horsepower V8, the new CLK safety car is endowed with an aftermarket exhaust system, a high performance radiator, two engine oil coolers, and a larger auxiliary transmission oil cooler.
